Sisters with Blisters kicks off 16 days of activism
Literally blowing their whistles against women and child abuse, 1400 stiletto clad supporters joined hands with Jacaranda 94.2 and 1st for Women Insurers on Saturday, 24th November, to raise funds and awareness for this heart-felt cause.

Not even the gloomy weather dampened the spirits of those partaking in the 4.5 km 'protest' walk. Supporters were out in full force donning branded t-shirts and spreading vital messages including "Real men don't hit women" and "You are special, don't be a victim." With the number of participants more than doubling since the first Sisters with Blisters walk in 2006, the streets around Montecasino were abuzz with patrons of the event giving their voice a public platform.

With R150 000 raised for the Leigh Matthews Trust, which provides a safe-haven for those affected by abuse and those that can't afford counselling, the positive effects of Sisters with Blisters will be felt by many.

Local celebrities donned their heels in support of the 'Sisters' with Rosie Motene, Natalie Chapman, Morne Morkel and Paul Harris walking the talk. Various prizes were handed out to the lucky winners with Madeleine Evans of Springs clinching the first prize of an all inclusive trip for two to Hollywood, as well as a visit to the set of Desperate Housewives.
