It was, unfortunately, canned  by  G
Hey, the mag was closed down for financial reasons earlier this year. I agree, it was great and really started getting into its own.

True Love Babe
Was closed down at the beginning for the year because it didn't make money/sell advertising.

Overstated circ  by  Miss Media
Not to mention the fact that the circ was overstated....
After seeing the real figures no one wanted to advertise in there anymore.

What a pity  by  Kay Matthews
But it was a good mag, how come people didnt want to advertise in it?
And it was affordable so a whole lot of students must have bought it...

Unfair on Lelethu  by  mxhosakazi
To appoint Lelethu as the new editor and after two months close is down was really a bad move. Sure, they must have known that they were planning to close it down. I think that was a bad call!!!

mag black young girls could relate to..  by  envy
True love babe was my best friend, its the only mag that black young ladies could relate to,most of the mags on the shelve are targeted to the whites most of issues dicussed there we cant relate to,hope someone can realise that it was a mag with potential so they can start it again

So much potential lost...  by  hazy
I agree. Eventhough there are some great SA mags out there, and of course no mag is perfect, True Love Babe really did provide an approach that appealed to me as a young black woman in South Africa. I definitely could relate to a lot of the content, as they addressesd subjects and experiences unique to their target market.

It's a sad state of affairs, especially since it had the potential to be a stand-alone success in the market for many years to come.

I'm also hoping for a True Love Babe resurrection. Maybe I'll even be involved in it?!...

Fill the Void  by  Miss Opportunist
The death of this brilliant concept, now gives birth to another! it's time now for an ambitious young lady out there (namely, myself) to mustre up the courage to bring you a similar, yet refreshingly different option.

watch this space!!
