NAAMSA, Kagiso Exhibitions & Events unite for Johannesburg International Motor Show
Issued by: Kagiso Exhibitions & Events

Following extensive negotiations between NAAMSA and Kagiso Exhibitions & Events (KEE) the two parties reached an agreement to establish a joint venture BEE initiative to stage the Johannesburg International Motor Show, which will replace Auto Africa.

The inaugural Johannesburg International Motor Show will take place at the Nasrec, Johannesburg from Thursday, 30th October, 2008 through to Sunday, 9th November, 2008.

The agreement is for three show periods, 2008, 2010 and 2012, with stringent evaluation processes after each show. The estimated automotive industry commitment of each event is around R120million or approximately R350million over the three events. This represents a major investment for the economies of Johannesburg City and Gauteng Province.

Murphy Morobe, Chairman of Kagiso Exhibitions & Events said, “Kagiso Exhibitions and Events has developed and owned, what has been up till now, the largest bi-annual, national automotive event on the African continent, namely Auto Africa."

“The change in name brings Africa's biggest motor show into line with the other shows on the global calendar that are accredited by OICA, the International Organisation of Vehicle Manufacturers. Think Geneva Motor Show, Tokyo Motor Show and Frankfurt Motor Show,” said Dr Johan van Zyl, President of NAAMSA.

A joint KEE – NAAMSA Management Committee will address all strategic, operational and sales related matters.

By the end of February, 2008 – Kagiso Exhibitions & Events will announce and advertise details of registration procedures for exhibitors wishing to participate in the 2008 Johannesburg International Motor Show. In the meantime, enquiries may be directed to NAAMSA on 012 323-2980 or Kagiso Exhibitions & Events on 011 661-4000. Visit www.johannesburgmotorshow.co.za
