Village Voice, the hot new student newspaper, hits SA campuses again in October. Copies of the previous two issues have been snapped up eagerly by varsity students anxious to find out what's hot and happening on their campuses as soon as possible.
“Village Voice is the brainchild of Student Village Web editor Mbali Mabizela. Mbali has already shot straight into the hearts and heads of over 68 500 students interacting on www.studentvillage.co.za as their first friend on the site,” says Student Village CEO Ronen Aires.
“She's now talking through Village Voice to over 30 000 students on the ground at varsity campuses. Her editorial mix in each issue has seen students read Village Voice from cover to cover. This is truly a powerful offering from her and the other Villagers who assist in getting each issue to the students.
“And not just for the students - it's also a platform that is working well for the advertisers using it to reach this target market - both from a new or existing product or service offering, and for those wanting to find the perfect fit when recruiting graduates,” adds Aires.
Mabizela is over the moon about the response Village Voice has received. “Each issue sees more and more students joining me on www.studentvillage.co.za and clamouring to get involved from a content point of view. They're all so eager to make sure their campuses get onto the Student Village ‘map'. It's truly a remarkable success story - that sees each issue get hotter than the last one! Launching a new venture is always exciting and when one gets met with the kind of response that Village Voice has, the excitement tends to go right over the top.”
The October issue is full of topical relevant news and views for SA students, and takes a close look at travel opportunities and tips for those planning a break-away at the end of the year.
This new issue of Village Voice also highlights another new offering from Student Village - Village Mobile. This is a cellphone-based offering that yet again extends the reach of the website - the fastest growing student networking site in SA. Students are now accessing Student Village via their phones on www.sv.co.za.
“The take-up of Village Mobile has been great,” says Student Village director Marc Kornberger. “Students are using it as a complement to their surfing in the varsity computer labs and clients are loving the way this new mobile platform is also extending the reach of their advertising campaigns on the site.”
