Changes at CMP

Charlene Schoeman, 47, has been appointed General Manager of Cape Medical Plan. The appointment was announced by CMP's board on 1 February 2008.

Charlene, who has succeeded Mark Clark as GM, has been Financial Manager of CMP since 1994 having joined us in 1993 as an internal auditor.

She was born in Durban and trained as an accountant and she holds B. Comm and B Compt honours degrees from (Natal University and UNISA). In addition, she has a teaching qualification, an HDE, and has taught at Damelin College.

After graduating with her B Compt she studied her articles at KPMG, one of the large internal accounting services firm.

She and her husband, who is an Export Sales Director for Macadams, live in Table View with their ten year old daughter.

Charlene's advice to CMP members? “Look after your health


Neil McDermid, CMP's Information Technology Manager, will step into Charlene's shoes as Financial Manager, while also wearing his information technology hat.

Neil holds a B Comm degree from the University of Pretoria and he has identified with the career growth possibility represented by CMP's own growth.

The 32-year old migrated from Pretoria to the Cape in 2006 to work in CMP's IT department.

Information technology, with its capacity to order large amounts of data is crucial to a medical aid's task of giving the right service and information to clients when they need it, says Neil.
