Habari Media captures the largest online audience in SA

Specialist online media sales house, Habari Media, is proud to announce that it has recently been appointed by international media giant, BBC, and local newspaper legend, Sowetan, to represent both companies' online sites in South Africa.

These appointments mean that Habari Media now provides advertising access to the largest online audience across both South Africa and Africa, totalling a whopping 3.4 million unique browsers a month and including sites such as MSN, Career Junction, SARugby.com, Sharenet and Private Property.

Importantly for Habari, it also means that the sales house offers potential advertisers access to audiences across the range of our diverse population.

Says Habari Media's Stijn Smolders, who hails from The Netherlands and now heads up the national media team: “Coming from a full-grown online advertising market I have experienced how important it is to be able to provide advertisers with reach through a portfolio that is a complete reflection of the population. Now with Sowetan and BBC on our books, Habari Media is able to present media plans to advertisers that provide them with the largest reach in all different target audiences.”

BBC News is the world's largest international news network, with over three million pages of content. It is also the world's largest news content site with 58 international news bureaus and 250 correspondents. Every month, 29 million unique users around the world visit www.bbc.com, 320 000 of which hail from South Africa and together generate over 14 million page impressions.

On a more niche scale, Sowetan is one of South Africa's most read daily newspapers, boasting not only a strong historic link with the country's black middle class, but also very high levels of reader trust. This trust is evident in the high levels of uptake of www.sowetan.co.za, which currently logs a very healthy 130 000 monthly unique users, generating 3.4 million page impressions.

Although individually quite different from one another in terms of their offerings, the sites represent an important achievement for Habari Media in terms of the recognition from both media houses of the service that Habari Media provides.

“BBC and Sowetan are both legends in their own right. Both have long and intimate histories with their relevant audiences, and both boast extremely high levels of readership trust.
