No sacrifice in website¹s growth gambit
Issued by: Click2Customers

Cape Town-based international chess website, Chesscube.com, has turned to global pay-per-click specialist Clicks2Customers for a targeted campaign as it launches its interactive instruction video service.

With over three million Google search results for online chess websites, Chesscube.com needed to find a way to differentiate itself from competitors. The website delivers over a terabyte of data per month to around 145 000 users.

Online chess has historically had a massive following and four-time South African chess champion and founder of Chesscube.com, Mark Levitt, says Chesscube.com has quickly made its mark.

"We started in 2006 and have quickly grown our users. Technology developments in interactivity as well as graphics have made the game a firm favourite amongst our global userbase. We are now looking for a more targeted campaign to attract the kind of users who are looking for a more personalised and application-rich chess experience," comments Levitt.

Chesscube.com has recently launched ChessCube Cinema which is a chess video service with an interactive, synchronised chess board, with commentary from guest lecturers from all over the world. This premium service also allows users to produce their own chess videos and post them to the website.

Clicks2Customers will be working with Chesscube.com to deliver a precisely targeted campaign which will differentiate the website from its competitors and reach users who may not have heard of ChessCube Cinema and other new functionality.

"We have developed a campaign of around a million search terms. We are also carefully monitoring the performance and adjusting the tactics to create a more dynamic campaign," explains Jonathan Gluckman, Clicks2Customers new business director himself an avid chess player.

The website is hosted in multiple countries to ensure failsafe, real-time delivery. Although the development company is based in South Africa, local bandwidth constraints have necessitated that all of the server capacity resides outside the country¹s borders.

The website is also gearing up for the World Chess Championship 2008 between the current champion, Viswanathan Anand, and the previous World Champion, Vladimir Kramnik.

The match will take place in Bonn, between 14 October and 2 November this year and Chesscube.com will be making use of ChessCube Cinema to allow users to view the matches with real-time commentary from a number of grandmasters.

"We are exceptionally excited about delivering this service and will again be calling on Clicks2Customers to assist us in attracting viewers," Levitt concludes.
