This year’s judges were:
  • Peter van der Schyff – Pringle-Scott Communications
  • Anthea Johnston – former PRISA president
  • Victor Nosi – The Sponsorship Company
  • Victor Sibeko – Transnet
  • Marilyn Watson – MultiChoice
  • Jean Valin – (international judge) – Global Alliance
  • Ronnie van Wijk – Global Access
According to chief judge Van der Schyff, the calibre of entries received was high. The entries not only focused on high profile campaigns but also on smaller, less obvious campaigns as well as those with small budgets.

“It is pleasing to see how this award has grown over the years in importance and in magnitude,” says Van der Schyff. Asked about areas of improvement, he says: “The entrants need to focus more attention on research and measurement. This is not to say that this was not done effectively, but that the submissions should include more detail.”

Sponsors of this years’ PRISM Awards included: Monitoring SA, Global Access, Ad Talent, Toyota, BHP Billiton, Simeka TWS Communications, National Research Foundation, Worldspace Satellite Radio, CIMA, Sentech, Inzalo Communications and Event Management, Dynamo Africa, PR Africa, About Entertainment, Bizcommunity.com, Conference Computers, Creative Connexion, Jenna Clifford, John Hogg, Red Bull, The Westcliff, Monster Party, Buzzard Mountain Retreat, Tony Koenderman’s AdReview in FinWeek, DataPro, and Vox Telecom.

“There have been requests in the past by PR practitioners in other regions to view the PRISM Awards, and this year Global Access have agreed to packaged the event in a business broadcast to be aired later in April to the public relations industry,” says Bridget von Holdt, chairman of the Public Relations Consultants Chapter.
