Hot on the heels of his endearing Knorr spot, Grant De Sousa completed two spots for Gill anti-dandruff shampoo with Draftfcb Johannesburg.
Having to replicate a warm-up session preceding a rugby game, and a cricket test match, it was decided to shoot the spots at Wanderers. Carefully crafted crowd replacement, sound design and selective framing all played a part in capturing an authentic big match feel - without a cast of thousands!
The street casting for some beefy legs was certainly an interesting aspect of the shoot. Producer Rob Lewis and Grant donned their winter woolies and attended a few club rugby matches to eye out the talent. Needless to say, they received a few interesting looks when it was obvious they weren't actually watching the game and simply checking out the legs.
Another highlight was the post-shoot Draftfcb vs Collective Films cricket match where Grant hit a four in his favourite stadium. Even directors get their 15 seconds of fame...
