Breadline Africa, Quirk eMarketing launch The Blogger Bake-Off
Issued by: Quirk eMarketing

Breadline Africa has been one of Quirk's most valued clients for some time. They're a client with a difference, though. This is because the time and effort that goes into their online marketing campaigns is all for such a great cause: Breadline Africa is a grant-making organisation that raises funds and uses them to provide sustainable support to a number of community-based projects.

One of the most notable of these is the conversion of used shipping containers into permanent structures that can serve as classrooms, as soup kitchens or to perform a number of other necessary functions.

Our most recent Breadline Africa challenge was to find a creative and exciting new concept to get people talking and boost donations.

A few months ago, a bunch of us were sitting around the QuirkStation, brainstorming this challenge. Because we're QuirkStars (and therefore naturally brilliant), we had some grand ideas that day, but a call from our resident creative guru and CEO, Rob Stokes (all the way from his conference in San Francisco) made our ideas seem like codswallop. His idea was, of course, the Worldwide Blogger Bake Off. He spent about six seconds convincing us that this idea was terrific and what followed was a flurry of preparation to get everything ready in time for Blog Action Day, with its annual theme centred, appropriately, on poverty.

What is this Worldwide Blogger Bake Off, though? And how does it work? This innovative new campaign revolves around bloggers and their readers baking bread, spreading the word and challenging others to bake bread. A big part of this is sharing the recipes, videos and experiences of the baking (and eating - yum) process. Of course, the bottom line is about raising money for Breadline Africa; a truly great organisation. In essence: bake bread - give dough. The site, found at www.bloggerbakeoff.com, is sexy (yes, bread can actually be sexy) and we QuirkStars are terribly proud of the work we have done to date.

And now, it's on to Phase Two and we are just raring to get baking!
