The South African Council of Shopping Centres (SACSC) Special Star Regional Awards 2009 took place late last week in Cape Town for the Western Cape region. In a first for the South African retail industry, this event combined the announcement of the regional winners as well as the category winners of the Footprint Marketing Awards. 
One of Limpopo province's largest commercial real estate investment, the R1.2 billion Mall of the North, is currently on schedule for opening in early 2011. April 2010 is when the new I'Langa Mall (I'Langa meaning 'sun') will open in Nelspruit with easy access off the N4 highway. A R600 million project, it will be anchored by Pick n Pay, Edgars, Game and Woolworths and complemented by major national retailers including Truworths, Foschini, Mr Price and Ackermans.
